Application Guides

How is raw concrete primer applied?

The correct application steps for adhesion on smooth, low absorbency surfaces such as fair faced concrete.

Why is fair faced concrete different?

Fair faced concrete surfaces are usually flat, hard and low in absorbency. On surfaces of this kind it is harder for topcoats to bond. Raw concrete primer creates an adhesion bridge between the surface and the layer that will go over it.

Surface preparation

  • Remove all mould oil residues from the surface.
  • Clean off dust, dirt and loose particles.
  • Make sure the concrete has completed its setting and drying process.
  • Repair voids and areas of segregation with a suitable repair material.
  • Allow the repaired areas to dry.

Application

  • Stir the product until it is homogeneous.
  • Apply the primer in a thin, even film.
  • Do not let it pool or build up thickly.
  • Apply the layer that goes over it once the primer has dried.
  • Do not apply when there is a risk of frost, intense sunlight or strong wind.

Checking the work

After application, make sure no area of the surface has been left unprimed. For product specific waiting times, refer to the details on the product packaging and to the technical data sheet.
